SADA awaits govt’s approval to implement Master Plan

The  Savanna  Accelerated  Development Authority (SADA ),says  it  is waiting patiently for  government  to go  through  and  approve its  Master plan to pave way for  its implementation.

The Chief Executive Officer of SADA, Mr Charles Abugre, told the press that, “ the  overall master plan  is coming to a conclusion… it was  presented  to the Economic Management Team of the government  and  they  have made their immediate comments, but they are going to  make  their more detailed  comments  and based  on  those comments  and  approval of  the  plan, then it  will be ready  for implementation.”

Mr Abugre said in the meantime, the detailed work relative to the development of profiles for some catalytic projects in the SADA master plan had begun  while waiting for government to make input to the Master plan  itself.

He  disclosed  that government had also requested for some of  the catalytic  projects  to be  presented, and  that has  also been   done. “So the finalization of the master plan is awaiting government’s input”,  he added.

The SADA Master Plan is a blueprint, with strong emphasis on agriculture, tourism, education and infrastructure, which is to be used by the Authority to spearhead the transformation of the Northern Savanna Ecological Zone (NSEZ),

The CEO spoke to the media recently when SADA in collaboration with Surbana Jurong, a premier Spatial and City Modeling agency of the Singapore Government, made a presentation on the Transport and Infrastructure plans of Buipe and Tamale for some key Ministries.

The presentation was meant to enable key ministries make input into these plans before they are finalized.   The meeting brought together Directors and Chief Directors, the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives, Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development, Ministry of Transport, Ghana Water Company Limited, Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, the media among others.

The Minister for Special Development Initiative, Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson had in an ealier interview commended the Authority for its positive match to bring the much needed development to the SADA area.

She added , “I have visited the three northern  part  of  the  country and I  saw  what SADA is  doing and  I will  say I am impressed with  what the  current CEO is doing and  the  staff  at  the northern  regions.”

She gave the assurance that  government would  continue  with  all the policies  and  programmes  of SADA,  adding “ all that SADA  is  doing is  going to  be  replicated  in the other    Development  Authorities.”

The Minister Continued, “Yes…100 percent   assurance that we will continue with all what SADA is doing… “ It  is even  in the  Bill  that all that  SADA  is  doing  we  are going  to continue.”
