Ahwerease- Darmang gets New Central Mosque

The Muslim Communities of Ahwerease –Darmang, Noka, Annoff, Kwesi Tenteng, Mason Lane, Yaw Krow, Duayeden, and its surrounding areas in the Nsawam -Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region have been handed a new Central Mosque for their congregational prayer and other Islam-related activities.

The modern-day Mosque, dubbed, Masjid Sa’ad Bin Muaz was constructed under the auspices of Rahma International Society of Kuwait in collaboration with Care and Social Development Organization, Ghana.

The mosque, which has its interior and external walls and floors overlaid with black and white sophisticated tiles, has an estimated capacity of 700 people. It also comes with exterior washrooms for males and females as well as a mechanized borehole meant to provide potable water for ablution.

 During the Commissioning of the Mosque on Saturday, June 26, 2021, Sheikh Mansour Aba Zaid, Country Director, Care and Social Development Organization, Ghana, expressed his outfit’s appreciation to the Muslim community in the area for their effort in acquiring the land for the construction of such magnificent mosque.

He urged the Muslims in the area to put the mosque into good use by praying regularly and teaching the tenets of Islam in it.

Sheikh Mansour disclosed that his outfit has constructed several Mosques, Schools and boreholes across the length and breadth of the Country.

He indicated that other interventions embarked on by his organization include supporting orphans, enrolling children in school and fending for the underprivileged.

 In his remarks, Imam of the Ahwerease – Darmang Central Mosque, Abdul Salam Yakub thanked Allah and commended the organization for constructing the Mosque.

He also extoled the Muslim Community of the area for their contribution towards the purchase and of the land.

Imam Abdul Salam explained that though the Community has a mosque where it performs its congregational prayers (Jumma Prayers), the influx of Muslims in the area rendered that mosque too small to contain the growing numbers, thus, the need for a more spacious place.

He said the request for a bigger mosque which is capable of containing the numbers was responded to by Rahma International Society of Kuwait and its partner Care and Social Development Organization of Ghana.

While using the opportunity to illustrate his gratitude to the organizations for their kind gesture, he assured them that efforts would be made to maintain the mosque.

On his part, Alhaj Abdul Rahman Suleiman, Imam of Sayikrom Central Mosque, Nsawam, also thanked the organizations for bringing such an imposing structure to the Muslim communities in the area. He added that they would all support in ensuring that the Mosque is well taken care of.

The Commissioning was graced by important personalities, including Chiefs, Muslim Clerics, as well as Women and Children,
